Time flies when you are changing diapers, feeding bottles, and cuddling with little ones! Our babies are almost five weeks old and I really need to document all of this fun we have been having!
We arrived at the hospital at five in the morning on January 14th for my scheduled c-section. They started their "get ready for c-section" procedure and everything was going great. As soon as I walked into the operating room, I lost it. The tears started like a waterfall. I think it was when I saw the TWO little baby stations that they had set up when I started to get really overwhelmed. TWO babies!!!! Crazy! You know all along that at the end of the pregnancy there will be two babies but something about being in an operating room will sure make it real, real fast! So at 8:05 Morgyn Brooke was born weighing five pounds six ounces and at 8:07 Maysie Lyn was born weighing four pounds eight ounces. Everything went well and they were screaming away.

Chris went with the babies and that's when we found out they would be admitted to the NICU. We knew it was a possibility but hoped for better. Their lungs were fully developed, but they had low blood sugar, heart murmurs, and rapid breathing. Maysie ended up staying in the NICU for 8 days. Morgyn stayed longer (13 days) because she had a few "episodes" where she would hold her breath and her heart rate and oxygen levels would drop and she would turn blue. In the long run, it was good she stayed the extra time because otherwise I would have never slept for fear that she would have another episode. The nurses said the only way I would know she was having an episode would be that she would turn blue. Without all the monitors attached to her at the NICU, this would be the only way I would know. Scary!
My recovery has been going well except for the fact that I lost so much blood. They were going to give me a blood transfusion but in the end decided to put me on iron pills. I am now anemic so I have had less energy. Not exactly a good thing! But I am feeling great and getting back to normal.
We are happy to all be together and are learning a new normal for our family. The laundry levels have tripled, as has the trash amounts. The only thing that has gotten smaller is the amount of sleep we get!!! We have had so much help from our family and ward members and are so grateful for that. I would have definitely gone crazy by now without all of the help! Thank you!!!

Mya is doing well and loving her "baby" and "more baby" as she likes to refer to her sisters. She is definitely moving into the terrible twos with lots of whining and tantrums but to her defense, her life has just been totally uprooted!
At the babies one month check-up, they both have gained nearly two pounds and are now the size of "normal" babies! They are healthy and still alive after one whole month! I guess that means we are doing our job!!!
